Tim Tebow

December 10th, 2007

Tim Tebow was born August 14, 1987. Tim is the quarterback for the Florida Gators. He is a young man with numerous awards such as the Maxwell Award, the nation’s top player, Davey O’Brien Award, nation’s best quarterback, Heisman Trophy, the most outstanding player. However, Tim Tebow is not just any quarterback.

Tebow is a young man of strong core values and convictions. My heart was overwhelmed as I heard his acceptance speech of the Heisman Trophy. In his speech he gave the credit to his LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, the influence from his parents and coaches. Tebow showed humility and a selfless attitude. That will always bring success. He is a true example of Christian character.

The greatest thing Tebow had going growing up was – INFLUENCE.

Who are we allowing to influence our lives? I observed his parents (missionaries to the Philippians) beam with a sense of pride, not because of the Heisman, but their son realizing that his success was determined by those who influenced his life. Danny Wuerffel, 1996 Heisman Trophy winner was a tremendous influence in his life by “doing it the right way on and off the field” Tebow said. Influence is the most powerful tool we can have.

Whatever walk of life that we have, someone is observing. We can help influence the hearts and minds of the people we come in contact with. This will always begin with parents setting a good and Godly example in front of their children. This is where they get it first. Second, know who is doing the influencing. Evaluate this, and then make the necessary changes. Third, never forget our source of strength, and power. This comes from Jesus Christ.

I am, by no means a Gator fan. But I have to give props to this tremendous player, leader, and man of God. WAY TO GO TEBOW!

I agree. I also think it is interesting that all three Heisman winners from Florida are sons of preachers. Interesting…

I agree i have never been a florida fan but when i saw the way he conducts himself on and off the field i knew he was raised the right way. He always thanks God first when he wins an award. i love it that his mom and dad are missionaries to the Philippians i thought that was so neat see my stepmom lives in the philippians and they have tried everything to get her over here but they still cant but its so wierd Tim’s favorite verse is my favorite verse.

I’m not exactly a football fan, so I had no idea about Tim Tebow’s testimony until my sister told me about him. You see, my brother-in-law is a huge Gator fan, but he is not a believer. However, it appears that Tim’s faithful Christian witness (combined with his excellence as an athlete) is gradually winning my brother-in-law over. It really brings to mind Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13-16; Tim truly is salt and light to this world. May God continue to bless him and use him to draw more lost sheep home to Christ.

By the way, I’m hoping you meant to say that Tim’s parents were in the Philippines as missionaries to the Filipinos. Because if they were missionaries to the Philippians, then wow, they must be REALLY old! LOL

His parents are missionaries to the Philippines and not Philippians. Tim was born in the Philippines too.
